This four-day intense course will provide you with a unique opportunity to learn State of the Art Diagnostic and Clinical information from faculty representing major academic medical centers located throughout the U.S. Faculty have been personally chosen for their ability to practice the “Art of Medicine” and who specialize in patient care. These are the best teachers that I have met in my career!

Educational Goals and Objectives:

  • To develop an organized and quick approach to recognizing an acute coronary syndrome, understand ECG’s and aggressive treatment modalities and controversies for patients with chest pain and congestive heart failure.
  • To understand how to set priorities in the evaluation and treatment of the multi- trauma patient, along with subspecialty considerations.
  • To recognize common and missed spinal column injuries, how to avoid errors and advanced clinical management techniques.
  • To learn how to treat diseases with subtle diagnosis and identify trends and advances in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, diagnosis, resuscitation and consent.
  • To understand the effects of several drugs and precautions to take for the resuscitation and evaluation of the most critically ill patients and how to assess and stabilize patients for appropriate transfer.
  • To discuss evidenced based and clinical pearls likely to change your practice, along with emerging viral infections, and interesting ultrasonography cases.
  • To learn how to manage critical aspects in the care of the Transplant patient, those with Sickle Cell anemia, Asthma, COPD, along with neurological Emergencies in the 21st Century.
  • To learn about our complex medical system and how to recognize common pitfalls and avoidable errors, along with Pediatric airway management, and what you should check on for the unstable patient in your Emergency Department.
  • To be aware of special situations and understand the approach to the evaluation of abdominal pain


Accreditation Statement:

  • Florida Hospital is accredited by the Florida Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
  • Florida Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 33 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit (s) TM. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.
  • Approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for 21 hours of ACEP Category I Credit
  • Meets 1 hour of HIV/AIDS and 2 hours of Medical Errors Management for Florida Relicensure.
  • This activity is pending CEU accreditation by the Nursing Board of Florida, through Florida Hospital.

Fees:
The conference registration fee is $595 for physicians (Early Bird Sign-up before Feb 4, 2008: $545.00); $325.00 for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants (Early Bird Sign-up before Feb 4, 2007: $300.00); $150.00 for Resident Physicians, Paramedics, Medical Students, and Nurses. Fee includes all course materials, breakfasts, and beverage breaks. The reception is complimentary. Single Day Fees are available: $250.00 per day for physicians.
The ACLS/BLS Recertification Fee is $250.00 (Early Bird Sign-up before Feb 4, 2008: $225.00). The PALS Recertification Fee is: $250.00 (Early Bird Sign-up before Feb 4, 2008: $225.00). Advance reservation is required, since space is limited and materials are sent ahead of time.

A block of rooms has been reserved at The Rosen Centre Hotel on International Drive. The Rosen Centre Hotel is ideally located close to Universal Orlando® and City Walk®, Disney Parks, and SeaWorld®. A short stroll from the hotel is Pointe Orlando, a 17-acre entertainment and shopping complex. World class shopping nearby at Millenia Mall. The hotel offers swimming pool, whirlpool, and wading pool, lighted tennis courts, full service spa and complete fitness center. I –Ride Trolley offers convenient, local transportation.

Single or double rooms are available at the conference rate of $129.00 plus tax, per room, per night. Club Level rooms at an additional $40.00 per night. Please identify yourself as an attendee for this course to obtain the special rate. The room block will be under Florida Emergency Physicians.

Reservation Deadline: Cut-off date for reserving accommodations is on March 5, 2007. Space and special room rate are not guaranteed for reservations made after this date.

Air and Ground Transport:
Attendees are responsible for making their own travel arrangements.

Registration:
All registrations received will be confirmed by mail. A limited number of on-site registration slots will be available. Please see REGISTRATION FORM on next page for registration details.

Refunds less a $50.00 processing fee will be given for cancellations received in writing before March 20, 2007. Individuals who fail to attend the course (no-shows) will not be entitled to a refund. FEP reserves the right to cancel courses due to the unlikely event of unforeseen circumstances. If a meeting is cancelled, FEP will refund course registration fees but cannot be held responsible for other costs, i.e., travel.
